Catherine attended her first royal event as a guest at the 2008 Order of the Garter ceremony, in which William was inducted as the 1000th Knight of the Garter. She was escorted by Prince Harry and enjoyed the company of others within the Royal Family.
Catherine wore a black suit with small white polka dots, previously seen on a trip to Dublin in 2007. She wore black heels, and a black saucer Philip Treacy hat with black and white feathering. She carried a black clutch.

March 16, 2007: Cheltenham Festival, Gold Cup Day

Catherine made her second appearance at the 2007 Cheltenham Festival. She was dressed more colorfully than in her first appearance. She wore a pale blue-green Katherine Hooker "Alexander" jacket with brown buttons and matching Katherine Hooker scarf. She wore a brown skirt and brown suede boots. She topped the outfit with a Philip Treacy brown beret.

December 15, 2006: Prince William's Passing Out at Sandhurst

Catherine attended her first high profile as a guest of honor of Prince William. She was escorted by her mother and father, friend of William, Thomas van Straubenzee, secretaries, Jaime Lowther-Pinkerton and Helen Asprey, and two of his godfathers, King Constantine of Greece and Lord Romsey. Her appearance set off numerous rumours that an engagement was eminent. Other attendees included the Queen and the Duke of Edinburg, and the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, as well as other members of the royal family.

Catherine wore a bright red, long coat, over a black dress with lace trim. She wore black suede, knee-high, heeled boots with black hose, and a large, black, assymetrical box hat with bow. She carried a black clutch and wore black leather gloves.
