William and Catherine visited fire-ravaged Slave Lake, Alberta although the day had been a planned rest day. The couple toured the damaged area and spoke with firefighters and victims who had lost their homes.

Catherine improvised her outfit, as it was an unplanned stop. She re-wore the Smythe blazer that she wore departing Heathrow, and her J Brand jeans, she had worn the day before. She wore a white, ruffly blouse and her Pied-a-Terre slingback wedges.

William and Catherine took a seaplane from Yellowknife to Blachford Lake on July 5. There, they were greeted by Federal Defense Minister, Peter MacKay, Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq, General Guy Hamel and members of the 1st Canadian Ranger Patrol Group. There, they toured the Dechinta Centre for Research and Learning, and participated in a bonfire with Dechinta participants and activities including moosehide tanning, and fish drying.

Catherine wore a more comfortable outfit consisting of a Burberry, double pocketed shirt, J Brand 811 jeans help with a Linda Camm belt, and comfortable Sebago boat shoes.
